As the withdrawal agreement comes to a close, we have further clarification as to what will be required in order for your export goods to be delivered without additional customs delays or the detaining of goods.
A statement of origin will be required with immediate effect:-
The statement of origin must be provided on an invoice, or any other commercial document (excluding a bill of lading), describing the originating product in sufficient detail to enable its identification.
The text for a statement of origin is as follows:
(Period: from___________ to __________ (1*))
The exporter of the products covered by this document (EORI / Exporter Reference No ... (2)) declares that,
except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of ... (3) preferential origin.

*The numbers ‘(1,2,3 etc)’ refer to notes in the EU / UK Trade Cooperation Agreement (TCA) - (For full details refer to page 482 of the TCA)

Exporting country:

▪ Implement checks before shipment to ensure that the correct origin statement is present on the commercial invoice for any goods entitled to preference (i.e. UK or EU origin)*.

▪ Ensure that the importer understands that duty will be payable if goods are not of UK or EU origin or the correct origin statement is missing.
▪ Request that the importer instructs the seller to make the correct preferential origin declaration.
▪ On import discuss with the importer the status of the goods and duties (if any) payable before submitting the declaration.
